SME Coaching

Coaching, is commonly described as the practice of supporting an individual, referred to as a client, through the process of achieving a specific personal or professional result.

In the frame of East Invest, the SME coaching scheme is to assist SMEs that took part in the different East Invest activities with further capacity building and generating a sustainable internationalisation process.

It is the final phase in the support-chain towards EaP SMEs. After having been trained and exposed to the European market (through the study visits and B2Bs), and after having met potential partners in the investor fora, SMEs from the EaP countries will benefit from further assistance in their internationalisation process.

Based on best practices available on the European side, a tailor made coaching scheme will be developed for the EaP countries. Attention is going to be paid to the coherence and complementarities between training and consultancy activities. Theoretical and practical activities will be structured as one unit, providing comprehensive training for the participating SMEs.

Proposed fields of training and consulting are:

  • Development of business plans, due diligence and valuations
  • Financial structuring and fund raising
  • Organizational/Human Resource development
  • Developing marketing and sales strategies
  • Developing technical skills
  • Productivity improvement and quality control
  • Improving finance and accounting systems

European partner organisation experts will work with their Eastern colleagues on the methodology, the services to be offered under the scheme, the pricing policy, the service providers, etc. Appropriate training will be organised to make sure there is sufficient “local capacity” to deliver the services.

Within the scope of the programme, the coaching scheme is to be designed across the 6 countries and some 200 SMEs, who successfully completed the previous activities (training, trade fairs …) are to benefit from it.
