The 2nd European-Azerbaijan Business Summit May 2016

The 2nd EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum took place in Baku, Azerbaijan on 18 May 2016. The forum was organised by the AHK-Baku in the frame of the East Invest project. The event hosted around 400 participants, including Azerbaijan and European companies, Head of EU Delegation, Ministers and Deputy Ministers from the Azerbaijani government, EU Ambassadors,  representatives of different bilateral EU - Azerbaijan Chambers of Commerce interested in establishing business relationships with the Azerbaijani business community.

George Stoev, chairman of trade and investment committee of EUROCHAMBRES, pointed out that "Azerbaijan should continue its ongoing efforts to improve the business environment for SMEs, diversifying from the oil sector and modernising the real sector of the economy. This is a challenge which should not be on the shoulders of the government alone. The economic actors, and more precisely their representative organisations - Chambers of Commerce, employers federations, SME associations, should be actively involved in that policy making process. "

The programme comprised panel discussions on business opportunities in the agrifood, tourism and transport and logistic sectors, followed by B2B meetings between Azerbaijani and European companies.

In addition to this event, an European Business Networking Meeting took place on 17 May 2016, one day before the Business Summit, bringing together the EU businesses for an exchange of experience and learn more about the results of the first-ever EU Business Climate Survey in Azerbaijan.
